Scottsbluff Police say a 56-year-old Scottsbluff man has been cited for driving under the influence and refusing to submit to a chemical test after a vehicle he was driving lost control at the corner of 12th Avenue and 20th Street, shearing off a utility pole.
Sergeant Steve Lopez says at approximately 1:37, Police responded to the area and found that a 1995 Chevy Tahoe driven by 56 year old Joe Viola left the roadway and struck the power pole on the south side of the road. The power pole was sheared in half resulting in an estimated loss of $15,000. The Tahoe was a total loss.
There was no loss to surrounding residential power at the time of the accident. Viola was transported by Valley Ambulance to Regional West Medical Center for treatment of sustained injuries.
