Western Sugar, Union in midst of contract negotiations

Spokesmen for Western Sugar and the Teamsters Local 455 they are in the process of trying to come up with a new three year contract for factory workers in Fort Morgan and Scottsbluff.

The Cooperative’s Vice President of Human Relations and Safety David Devore told KNEB News he believes they are “close to settling” with the union representing the workers. He confirms the last contract settled in 2013 expired June 1st, and calls the negotiations “normal”.

Teamsters local 455 spokesperson Bob Adams would only say he is “hopeful” about a settlement in the near future. The last contract involved 220 members from the Fort Morgan plant and 150 from Scottsbluff, according to Adams.
