Strong winds and rugged terrain are complicating efforts to fight a wildfire near Wheatland.
The fire had burned nearly 30 square miles and at least one home as of Tuesday. Authorities say people in the area of Green Mountain west of Wheatland should prepare for possible evacuation.
The Casper Star-Tribune says the difficult ground and fire conditions have blocked firefighters from reaching some areas.
The Platte County Enmergency Management Agency says a federal firefighting team is taking over for local volunteers, bringing more equipment and manpower and possibly the ability to fight the blaze from the air.
A public meeting is scheduled for this evening at 7:00 pm at the Exhibit Hall at the Platte County Fairgrounds in Wheatland.
