Western Nebraska Community College is looking at adding an associate of Fine Arts to their degree offerings.
Currently WNCC offers an associate of arts degree, with an area of emphasis such as music or theater. However, Executive Vice President Kim Dale tells KNEB News the existing degree has been found to be too broad.
Dr. Dale days after consultation with four-year institutions in Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado, the decision was made to narrowly tailor a new degree to bring it more in line with Bachelors and Masters of Fine Arts programs at larger schools. She says that will make the transition more seamless for WNCC graduates pursuing a higher degree in the theater arts.
The proposalwwent before the WCCA Board of Governors earlier this month, and will have a second and final round of consideration in January.
