(AUDIO) Coach Clapp Recaps Historic Season for NECC Baseball

It was a historic season for the Northeast Community College Baseball team, winning the Region XI Tournament Championship, the North Plains District Title, and qualifying for the NJCAA Division II College World Series, all in just the program’s second year of existence.

Hawks Head Coach Marcus Clapp talks about building the program.

Last year, in its first year as a program, the Northeast Community College Baseball team won just 18 games. This season, the Hawks doubled that total, winning 36 games.

Clapp on the differences between year one and year two.

The Hawks will lose 15 sophomores to graduation. Nine of those sophomores have signed to further their academic and athletic career at a four-year institution.

Clapp says watching and helping his players learn and develop is what’s most rewarding to him.

The Hawks finished this season at 36-20 overall, going 2-2 at the NJCAA Division II College World Series.
