(AUDIO) Neligh-Oakdale blows out Pender in rescheduled Football Game

Pender-The Neligh-Oakdale Football Team went into Pender Monday night and came away with a big 58-20 victory in a game rescheduled from Friday.

The Pendragons struck first as Brady Oliver connected with Sam Mailoux (May-lou) on a 7-yard TD pass that put Pender ahead 8-0 with 5:23 remaining in the 1st quarter.

Andrew Herley then returned the ensuing kickoff 78 yards for a TD for the Warriors, and the score was 8-6 with 5:08 left to go in the 1st.

Hunter Charf of Neligh-Oakdale scampered into the end zone from 31 yards out with 49 seconds remaining in the 1st quarter to give the Warriors a 14-8 advantage.

Charf hit Austin Rice with a 38-yard TD pass at the 10 minute mark of the 2nd quarter, and Neligh-Oakdale extended their lead to 22-8.

Oliver found Jaydon Jump for an 18-yard TD pass with 6:36 remaining until halftime, and Pender cut the deficit to 22-14.

Charf scored on a 16-yard TD run for the Warriors with 4:45 left to go until halftime, and Neligh-Oakdale pushed the lead up to 16 at 30-14.

The final score of the first half came by way of a 1-yard Herley TD run with 6 seconds left in the half that gave Neligh-Oakdale a 36-14 advantage heading into the lokcer room.

The Pendragons’ Tyler Nelson scored on a 3-yard TD run at the 9:06 mark of the 3rd quarter to make it a 36-20 game.

Charf found pay dirt for the third time later in the quarter, and the Warriors led 42-20 with 6:28 remaining in the period.

Julien Hearn scored from 5 yards out at the 1:38 mark of the 3rd quarter for Neligh-Oakdale, and the Warriors led 50-20.

Herley scored on a 21-yard TD run with no time left to make up the final score.

Charf carried the ball 11 times for 169 yards, and scored 3 times for Neligh-Oakdale (2-4). Herley added 79 yards on 12 carries, and scored twice.

Charf was 6-11 passing for 76 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

For Pender (2-4), Oliver was 14-28 passing for 220 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Neligh-Oakdale had 372 yards of total offense, 286 coming on the ground, while Pender racked up 276 yards of total offense, including 239 passing.

Both teams have short weeks as the Pendragons travel to Omaha Nation Friday night while the Warriors take on Elgin Public/Pope John on the road.
