Wisner-Pilger Standout Keegan Ruskamp is headed to Wayne State to play baseball next season. Ruskamp says a school in Iowa really tried to get him, and he had offers in track as well. “I was going to go Buena Vista and play baseball, and for track I got multiple offers. I didn’t really pay attention to most of the track ones. But for Buena Vista, they were recruiting me pretty hard. But I got the RHOP at Wayne so that turned out to be where I headed.”
Ruskamp says the RHOP is the Rural Health Opportunities Program, which is for different areas of medicine. He plans to major in Physical Therapy at Wayne State and has a spot at UNMC if he keeps his grades up.
Ruskamp says playing high school sports allowed him to excel in the classroom. “Yeah I had a lot of fun playing sports, and sports is probably what kept me ahead in the classroom too cause if you don’t succeed in the classroom then you can’t play sports obviously so that’s probably a big factor of why I had good grades too.”
Ruskamp played Football, Basketball, and does track for the Gators, and has played legion baseball in the summer.
He will compete in the 300 hurdles at state track this weekend.
The lefty will pitch for the Wildcats.
