(AUDIO) Tekamah-Herman’s Jetensky heading to Wayne for Track

Tekamah-Herman Girls Track Standout Marin Jetensky is headed to Wayne State next season. Jetensky, who also played Volleyball and Basketball at Tekamah-Herman, says she chose to do track in college since she feels she has the greatest potential for success in that sport. “Yeah it was a very hard decision for me to figure out whether I wanted to do Volleyball or Basketball or Track. I had a couple colleges looking at me for each sport. And I think I just realized that I would have a better future in Track and Field. I thought that that would be the sport for me in College.”

Jetensky says she might also run Cross Country in the Fall, something she didn’t do at Tekamah-Herman since the school doesn’t offer the sport.

It depends on what events she does at WSC, but she says if she is in the 800, the mile, or the two mile then she would do Cross Country, but if she participated in like the 400 she wouldn’t do Cross Country.

She has done anywhere from the two mile to the 400 in High School.

Jetensky, who also had UNK and Northwest Missouri State looking at her, ultimately chose WSC for academic reasons and since it’s close to home. “I decided to choose Wayne just because my major. I want to go into teaching, and Wayne is a very good college for that in teaching. So I narrowed it down to Wayne. I went on a visit in I think last September, and I fell in love with it. I’ve always enjoyed being in a small town. And Wayne’s just a little bigger, and it’s the perfect distance from Tekamah. It’s far enough away, but it’s not really far away to where if I needed to come home it would be forever so it’s just that perfect distance from Tekamah.”

Jetensky will take part in Districts in Oakland on Thursday, and hopes to make it 4 trips to state in 4 years.
