(AUDIO) West Point-Beemer swept at Norfolk Catholic

Norfolk-Riding the momentum of a sweep of the Crofton Triangular Tuesday night, the Norfolk Catholic Volleyball Team swept West Point-Beemer 3-0 at home Thursday night in a match aired on 107.9 the Bull.

Things were back and forth early on as the match was tied at 4 early on and then again at 14 later on in the first set. The Knights went on to win the set 25-18.

Norfolk Catholic jumped out to a 20-7 lead in set two before the Cadets went on a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 20-16. The Knights wound up winning the set 25-20.

Norfolk Catholic closed things out in the 3rd set with a 25-15 win.

The Knights’ Mary Fennessy, who was the S&W Welding Player of the game for Norfolk Catholic, finished with a match-high 11 kills. Hayden Wolf added 8 while Abby Miller posted 7 for the Knights, who are now 4-9 on the season and have won 3 straight.

Sidney Swanson, who was the S&W Welding Player of the game for West Point-Beemer, had a team-high 9 kills for the Cadets, who fall to 10-10 on the season.

West Point-Beemer’s Jadyn Meiergerd was the CharterWest Bank Sportsmanship Award Winner.

West Point-Beemer is off until Tuesday when they take on DC West and Oakland-Craig at the DC West Triangular while Norfolk Catholic takes part in the Columbus Invite at Columbus High on Saturday.
