B-6 District softball starts Thursday

It’s going to be a busy two days of high school softball starting Thursday here in Scottsbluff and Gering. The two teams are co-hosting the B-6 tournament.

They’ll also open up with one another tomorrow at Oregon Trail Park in Gering at noon.

Gering comes in at 13-11, the tournaments #4 seed, while Scottsbluff is the #5 seed with a record of 13-15.

In five regular season matchups it’s Gering holding a 3-2 edge.

Gering Head Coach Tim Gonzalez thinks it’s a great game to get the postseason started.

The setting for this year’s district tournament is a big plus according to Scottsbluff Head Coach Michael Gentry.

Weather. It could factor into day one. The temperature not expected to get out of the 40’s. Cold weather can lend itself to lower scoring games and it could come down to pitching and defense. It’s something Gonzales and Gering have been prepping for this week.

Scottsbluff is hoping the GNAC Tournament last weekend has them prepared for all comers this week.

The winner of that noon matchup will stay right there in Gering and take on top overall seed North Platte at 2 p.m.

At Scottsbluff High School at noon it’s going to be #3 seed Gothenburg playing #6 seed Lexington. Then at two o’clock it’s #2 seed McCook hooking up with #7 seed Alliance.
