The Charger women’s volleyball team owned set two in a GPAC contest on the road against Jamestown Thursday night, but the Jimmies prevailed 3-1 (25-17, 13-25, 25-22, 25-20) to stay unbeaten in conference play.

“What we did so well Tuesday night escaped us tonight,” head coach Trevor Schirman said, referencing the Cliff’s 3-1 win over Dakota Wesleyan earlier in the week.

“Our serve reception was off along with our serving,” Schirman added, “We just played poorly.”

The blue and gold had 11 service errors in the contest, while only recording one ace.

Grace Hanno had a solid night for Briar Cliff, however, finishing with 11 kills and no attack errors. Victoria Gonzalez had a match-high 13 kills, while Courtney Schafer finished the night with seven. The top kill totals for Jamestown came from Britta Knudson (11) and Corina Ruud (10).

Julina Niemeier and Meghan Orr came up huge defensively for the Jimmies with 19 and 16 digs, respectively. Danielle Coronado led the Chargers in digs with 14.

Jamestown relied heavily on Miranda Lowman to set up its attackers as she finished the match with 28 assists. Jackie Meiklejohn chipped in with 20 assists for the Jimmies. Briar Cliff’s combo of Maureen Imrie and Delaney Meyer handled the setting responsibility for the Chargers as Imrie tallied 18 assists and Meyer finished the night with 13 assists.

The win improved Jamestown to 10-1, including a perfect 3-0 GPAC record in the Jimmies inaugural season in the conference. The Chargers sit at 7-4 (1-2 GPAC) and look to bounce back Friday night in a non-conference battle with Mayville State University in Mayville, North Dakota.
