CAMBRIDGE-  It was tightly contested matchup in the first quarter between the Lady Trojans and the Lady Haymakers as it was tied at 10-10, but a 17-4 second quarter in favor of Cambridge propelled them to a 56-34 victory. In the third quarter, Cambridge was outscored by Cozad 12-9 and entering the final quarter it was a 10-point lead for Cambridge 36-26. In the final stanza, Cambridge outscored Cozad 20-8 to close the game.

Cambridge was led by Korynn Clason led the Lady Trojans with 28 points. For Cozad, they were paced by Abigail Cornelius as she put in 13 points for Cozad. Cambridge is now 4-1 and will battle Loomis on Friday. Cozad falls to 1-6 and will take on Ainsworth Saturday.

The boy’s game featured an undefeated Cozad team and they kept that unblemished record by beating Cambridge 75-58. Cambridge had a lead of 10-8 midway through the first quarter, but Cozad took over and led 28-13 at the end of the period. In the second quarter, Cozad extended the lead to 46-20 at halftime. In the third quarter, Cambridge outscored Cozad 15-14 but still trailed 60-35 entering the final period. In that final quarter, Cambridge made a comeback bid and got within 10 points at 68-58, but couldn’t get any closer as Cozad scored a couple of late buckets.

The Haymakers were led by 18 points from Kaydn Marhenke and Cambridge’s leading scorer was Paxton Ross at 24 points. Cozad remains undefeated at 5-0 and they will face Ainsworth on Saturday. Cambridge falls to 2-3 and will battle Loomis on Friday.
