Minneapolis, Minn. — The Creighton Baseball settled for a series win over Minnesota as the Bluejays dropped the finale to Minnesota 15-1 on Sunday, March 11.
Creighton comes back to Omaha at 8-5 on the season, while Minnesota closed the series with a 11-6 record.
Minnesota jumped out to 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, taking advantage of a bobble that cost the Bluejays a chance to turn two and get out of the inning unscathed.
Sophomore Will Robertson tried to rally his troops as the Missouri blasted a home run into the second deck in right center field to get the Bluejays on the scoreboard.
Robertson’s blast was his second of the season, but one of just two hits for Creighton in the contest.
Minnesota got the run back in the bottom of the second, scoring two to push out to 5-1 lead. The Golden Gophers added a run in the fifth, then put the game away with seven runs in the sixth.
Bluejay starter Ryan Connolly took the loss (0-2), allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits in 1.2 innings. Minnesota’s Patrick Fredrickson earned the win (1-0), limiting Creighton to one run on two hits in six innings of work.
Minnesota closed the game with 15 runs on 20 hits.
The Bluejays return to the diamond on Tuesday, March 13 as Creighton faces Kansas State at 6:30 pm.
