OMAHA, Neb. — The Creighton Volleyball team has been ranked 13th in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association poll of the 2018 season.
This year marks the fourth straight season that Creighton has been ranked in the year-end AVCA poll, something only 10 schools (BYU, Creighton, Florida, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Stanford, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin) can also claim. It’s the fifth time Creighton has been ranked in the year-end poll, having also done it in 2012 (24th), 2015 (19th), 2016 (9th) and 2017 (16th).
Creighton, which was also ranked 13th in the preseason AVCA poll, is one of 19 teams that were in both the preseason and year-end poll. Over the last 11 seasons, 197-of-275 teams (71.6 percent) have been in both polls. Creighton, No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Nebraska and No. 6 Penn State also had the same preseason and postseason ranking.
The Bluejays have now been ranked in 52 all-time polls, and are one of 10 clubs to be ranked in each of the last 38 editions. The Bluejays have been in every poll since Oct. 31, 2016. CU’s all-time best ranking in program history for any week is No. 7, which came in the poll released on Aug. 28, 2017.
Creighton finished the 2018 season with a 29-5 overall record while reaching a seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament and winning the BIG EAST regular-season and Tournament titles for a fifth straight season.
