OMAHA, Neb. — Creighton Volleyball libero Brittany Witt has been named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after helping the Bluejays to a pair of victories last weekend.
An Omaha native, Witt averaged 4.71 digs, 1.29 assists and 0.43 aces per set in road wins over Villanova and Georgetown.
She had 17 digs, six assists, an ace, and her second career kill in a 3-1 win at Villanova on Friday night, then one night later at Georgetown, Witt added 16 digs, three assists and two aces as CU limited the Hoyas to just .146 hitting.
Witt leads all BIG EAST freshmen in digs (274) and digs per set (4.22) this fall. She also tops the Creighton team in digs while ranking second in aces (16).
Witt is the second Bluejay to earn BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors this season, joining Megan Ballenger (Sept. 12 and Sept. 19).
Creighton (12-6, 6-0 BIG EAST) returns home for a pair of matches this weekend, starting with Friday night’s 7 pm contest against St. John’s.
