OMAHA, Neb. — For the second time this season, Creighton outside hitter Taryn Kloth has been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week.
Kloth averaged 4.83 points, 4.50 kills per set, 1.17 digs and 0.33 aces per set on .458 hitting to help Creighton to a pair of 3-0 sweeps over Providence last week.
Kloth led all players in kills during both matches. The Sioux Falls, S.D., product had 14 kills on .500 hitting with five digs in Friday’s victory, which clinched an unprecedented fifth straight outright BIG EAST regular-season title for the Bluejays.
On Saturday, Kloth hit .409 with 13 kills, adding two aces and two digs on Senior Night. The performance helped Kloth overtake Marquette’s Allie Barber for the total points lead among all conference players.
Kloth was previously recognized on September 25th.
Ranked ninth nationally, Kloth and the Creighton Volleyball team host the BIG EAST Championships this weekend at D.J. Sokol Arena. Top-seeded Creighton (26-4, 18-0 BIG EAST) will meet Villanova on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the second semifinal.
