It was a cool and windy day for the annual event that featured athletes from 24 different schools from across the region in Classes A through D. Lexington coach Sam Jilka says it was a good day for the Minutemaids and Minutemen.
Two all-time ‘top 10’ LHS performances were achieved during the meet by two Minutemaids.
Kalli Sutton persisted to achieve 9’ 6” in the pole vault to tie the third best mark by a
Minutemaid vaulter, while Susana Calmo, won the 3200 meters in a time of 12:44.13, a new
personal best, to earn the 10 th best time by a Minutemaid distance runner. Calmo also set a new
personal best later in the meet with her 5:49.56 result in the 1600 meters to place 6 th . In addition,
Reese Kuecker was able to secure a sixth place in the triple jump with a leap of 34’ 5 ½”.
Freshman hurdler, Naomi Arias, ran a new personal best in the 100 hurdles with a time of 18:48
while sophomore teammate, Kianna Clouse set a new personal best in the shot put with a throw
of 28’ 3”.
The middle distance and distance runners helped lead the Minutemen efforts as the cooler
temperatures helped bring out numerous personal bests. The Minutemen were led by junior
standout, Laz Adame who won the 3200 meters in a time of 10:02.33, a new personal best, and
the 10 th fastest in LHS history to earn a spot in the all time top 10. Later Adame won the 1600
meters in a time of 4:43.8 edging out Aiden Hawks of North Platte by hundredths of a second.
Teammate, Oscar Aguado led from start to finish to win the 800 meters in a time of 2:01.6 while
Herson Rodriguez set a personal best, 4:46.11, to place 5 th in the 1600 and also set a personal best
800 meter split in the 3200 relay (2:05.9). Meanwhile sprinter Caleb Dowling recorded a
personal best in the 100 meters in a time of 11.52 while Dru Truax hammered home a new
personal best in the 400 meters in a time of 52.37 to place 3 rd . Sophomore hurdler, Christian
Burton continues to impress as he set two new personal bests: 17. 76 (110 Hurdles) and 45.23
(300 Hurdles)
