Lexington-Holdrege picked a great time to play its best game of the season as the Dusters upset Lexington 85-78 in the first round of the Boys B-7 subdistrict on Monday night. The Dusters (8-14) exploded for a season high 85 points in the win and avenged a loss earlier this season to Lexington. Coming into the game Holdrege was averaging just 49 points per game, but found the rims to their liking on Monday as they hit 11 three pointers. Leading the way were seniors Trent Hoeft who scored 25 and Charles Weed who chipped in with 24. Holdrege was a very efficient 11 for 17 from behind the three point arc, compared to the Minutemen who were just 11 of 34. Lexington was led by sophomore Kaleb Carpenter who scored a season high 18. Jake Leger had 17 points and five rebounds for Lexington who ends the year at 12-12 as they lost five out of their last six games to end the season. Holdrege will play in the subdistrict final tonight at 7pm against Hastings who beat McCook on Monday night 56-48.
