Exeter-Milligan Friend ends season undefeated

Stromsberg-Friday night’s Grid Iron action saw the Undefeated Exeter-Milligan-Friend (7-0) Bobcats pounce their way into Cougar Country against Cross County(4-3), in what would be the last regular season game for both squads.

After EMF went three and out on their first possession, the Cougars too punted it away.

EMF scored on their next possession with a short 4-yard pass from Spencer Pribyl to Max Zeleny. They went for and made the two-point conversion.

C.C. came out and countered with a T.D. of their own, with a 22-yard pass from Grant Hollinger to younger brother Cory Hollinger. They missed the extra two. The first half ended that way 8-6 EMF.

 In the second quarter, EMF scored twice. First with a with a one-yard run from Mitchell Manning, then on an 18-yard run from Edwen Baptista.

Cross County scored two also in the second quarter. Two Shay. First on a 17-yard pass from Cael Lundstrom to Alex Pinkleman, then on a last second bullet to the end zone.

With a half second left on the Clock Cross County took a time out. They came out and Lundstrom under center. He hiked it and hurled a perfect 41 yard to pass into the arms of Christian Rystrom in the corner of the end zone as time ran out.

At the half it was 24-20 EMF.

Third quarter saw a similar back-and-forth scoring from EMF and C.C..

Edwen Baptista scored from 5 yards to put the Bobcats ahead 32-20.

 The Cougars came marched right down the fields on 11 plays, the last being a two-yard run from quarterback Grant Hollinger to make shorten EMF’s lead. 32-28.

The fourth quarter however was a chapter by itself as Cross County just couldn’t find the end zone, and EMF continued their scoring ways by knocking in two more.

 A four-yard pass from Pribyl to Zeleny, and a one-yard run from Baptista sealed the “W” from EMF to wrap up the regular season a perfect 8-0.

Final score 46-28 EMF.

Cross County falls .500 at 4-4.

#2 EMF will start their run to state on Thursday, Oct. 25 with a game against #15 East Butler(3-5).

# 11 Cross County will also start on Thurs. Oct. 25 and try to sneak past #6 Howells-Dodge (6-2)
