YORK – York College survived a late goal by Grace to secure its final non-conference win of the season before they travel to Bartlesville, Oklahoma on Wednesday to take on Oklahoma Wesleyan. Joao Falco (SO/Sao Paulo, Brazil) andGuilherme Camargo (SR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored for the Panthers in their 2-1 victory.
The first half was back and forth with the Panthers creating more opportunities but neither team threatened too much. York outshot the Royals 9-4 but only two shots on goal for the Panthers made much work for the goalkeepers. The second half was a different story as coach Alex Latorre changed his formation to more of an offensive mindset to get the first goal. York outshot the Royals 16-1 in the second half, but it wasn’t until the 74th minute before a shot was able to get past Grace’s Spencer Hoyt. Matheaus Oliveira delivered a perfect pass to Falco to score his second goal of the year. Just two and a half minutes later the Panthers struck again as Camargo put away the pass from brian Aguilar.
Ighor Tavares (SR/Joinvile, Brazil) picked up the win as he allowed one goal in the 85th minute to Royals’ player Alex Drent. Camargo led the team with eight shots followed by Jacob Rodriguez (SO/Aurora, Colo) with five.
The Panthers improve to 3-3-1 on the season before heading into KCAC play on Wednesday.
