Wayne State College seniors Alyssa Frauendorfer and Michaela Mestl were two of eight players named to the Oredigger Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team announced Sunday by host school Colorado School of Mines.
Frauendorfer, a 6-0 middle hitter from Humphrey (Humphrey HS), averaged 3.00 kills and 0.64 blocks per set in four Wildcat wins over the weekend. She posted a weekend-best 16 kills with three blocks in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Western State and had 11 kills while hitting .526 for the match in a 3-0 sweep Friday over Dallas Baptist. For the weekend, Frauendorfer hit .392 with 42 kills and just four attack errors in 97 attempts.
Mestl, a 5-6 outside hitter from Kearney (Kearney Catholic HS), recorded 2.86 kills and 3.93 digs per set with two double-doubles in four WSC wins. She had 12 kills with 12 digs in a 3-0 win over Dallas Baptist and accounted for 11 kills with a weekend-best 19 digs Saturday in a 3-1 win over Western State (Colo.)
Wayne State, 4-0 on the season and ranked third in the latest AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, will play at the CSU-Pueblo Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
