The 2017 Nebraska Girls State Golf Championships are complete for Classes B and C and the region has two state champions!
In Class B, it was Scottsbluff’s Shelby Poynter taking home the individual title with a two day score of 155. She backed up here opening round two over par 74 with a day two score of 83, 9 over par.
Today’s state championship for Poynter caps off a tremendous high school career. As a junior a season ago Poynter finished 5th and two seasons ago as a sophomore she was 2nd in Class B.
On the team side of things Scottsbluff finished in 2nd place with a combined two day score of 727.
Other scores for Scottsbluff: D.J. Bokelman 185 (T-13), Ashlynn Haun 193 (T-23), Hassie Hood 197, and Jayda Ahrens 199.
Omaha Duchesne Academy won the Class B team title with a combined score of 697, 30 strokes better than Scottsbluff.
Gering capped a great state tournament with a 3rd place finish led by sophomore Ali Boswell. Boswell went from an opening round 92 to shoot 84 (+12) in round two, to finish in sole possession of 8th place.
Other scores for Gering: Madi Schlaepfer 177 (T-9), Megan Maser 189, Avery Mitchell 203, and Ashley Maschmeier WD.

Chadron’s Alpine Hickstein utterly dominated the Class C tournament, winning by 20 strokes guiding the Cardinals to a second place finish.
The senior shot a 2 under par 70 today, to finish the two-day tournament at 2 under 142 to pace the Cardinals, who shot a 757, finishing second to Ogallala (723).
Led by junior Kenzey Kanno, Mitchell finished in 10th place with a 829. Kanno shot a 9 over par Tuesday, 12 shots better than Monday, to finish in tenth place at 174.
Chadron’s Taurie Pourier finished in 16th with a 184. Other scores for Chadron: Aubree Nicole 212 (T-59), Katrina Dodd 218 (T-69), and Madeline Pelfon 222 (77th).
Bayard’s Samantha Trevino led the Tigers with a 184, good enough for a tie for 14th, while teammate Carissa Wolfe finished in a tie for 27th at 193.
Bridgeport’s Kaeli McVicker finished in a tie for 18th with a 188.
Other scores for Mitchell: Brooklyn Briggs 211 (T-56), Mykinzee Musfelt 214 (T-63), Halle Fegler 230 (T-85), and Martina Cardona 269 (95th).
