Ottawa, KAN. – Alan Gomes (SO/Fortaleza, Brazil) scored 2:18 into overtime to stun Ottawa University on the road Saturday. A free kick from midfield was headed by a Brave defender to an open Alan Gomes, who ripped it side netting for the game winner. It was Gomes’ second goal of the game as he led the Panthers to the 3-2 win.

After allowing a goal less than three minutes into the game York fought hard to get back in the game. In the 33rd minute of play Albert Bajrami (FR/Ravenna, Italy) ripped a shot off the crossbar that bounced hard back toward the top of the penalty area. Alan Gomes was in the right place at the right time as he connected on the ball perfectly to tie the game at one.

Both teams played even until the Panthers were able to find the back of the net once again as Alber Bajrami received a bouncing ball from Johan Rodriguez (SO/Texas City, Texas) that hit the near post, and then darted to across the goal to the far post before going into the back of the goal for the 2-1 lead.

York couldn’t keep the Braves off the board for long as their 84th minute goal sent the game into overtime.

The Panthers improve to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in KCAC play. York will travel to Avila University on Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. match against the Eagles.
