Nebraska junior middle blocker Briana Holman was named the espnW National Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Playing in her first matches since 2014, Holman helped the top-ranked Huskers to a 3-1 win over then-No. 3 Florida and sweep of then-No. 2 Texas. Holman hit .471 with 10 kills and a match-high seven blocks against the Gators, and she had eight kills and three blocks against Texas while hitting .727 with no errors.
Holman averaged 2.57 kills per set and 1.43 blocks per set while hitting .571 on the weekend.
The Huskers host the Nebraska Invitational on Friday and Saturday. NU will face Iowa State Friday at 6 p.m., and Oregon State Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Friday’s match is available online with a BTN Plus subscription. Saturday’s match is available to those with a HuskersNSide subscription.
