The Nebraska volleyball team was selected as the No. 7 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament and will host the NCAA Tournament first and second rounds at the Bob Devaney Sports Center this weekend. The sixth-ranked Huskers, making their 37th straight NCAA Tournament appearance, will open the tournament tonight at 7 p.m. against the Hofstra Pride, champions of the Colonial Athletic Association. The 4:30 p.m. match will feature the 24th-ranked Missouri Tigers of the SEC and the No. 23 Arizona Wildcats of the Pac-12. Today’s winners will meet on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. in the NCAA second round.
- Nebraska is in No. 2 Minnesota’s region along with No. 10 national seed Kentucky and No. 15 Oregon. The Huskers would only have an opportunity to host an NCAA regional if they advance past the opening two rounds and Minnesota gets upset in the first or second round.
- All Nebraska matches this weekend will be televised on NET and streamed on Huskers.com for free. All three matches this weekend will have a free live stream available at Huskers.com. Husker Sports Network will broadcast all the Husker action on HSN radio affiliates, including 107.3 FM in Lincoln and AM 590 in Omaha. A live audio stream will be provided at Huskers.com and the Huskers app. John Baylor is in his 25th season doing play-by-play for the Husker volleyball program. Lauren (Cook) West, a former All-America setter for the Huskers, will provide color commentary.
About the Huskers
- The Huskers, who have won eight straight matches, finished the regular season 24-6 overall and 15-5 in the Big Ten Conference, good for a tie for third place. Nebraska will face a familiar NCAA Tournament foe in Hofstra, who visited Lincoln for an NCAA first round match in 2014.
