Gracie Stienike’s 25 points powered the Swedes to a wire to wire win over Cozad. Gothenburg took an early lead and never relinquished it extending an eight point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter to a 15 point win.

Cozad got within four points in the second quarter and third quarters, but were unable to get any closer.

Kennedy Berreckman led the way for the Haymakers with 15 points, Sadie Rush was also in double-figures with 11.  With the loss Cozad falls to 2-11.

Dillon Geiser (l) drives past Owen Geiken on Thursday night.

The upset-minded Gothenburg boys team led most of the game including a 13 point lead in the second quarter. With both offenses struggling, Cozad’s Trestian Siemering found the range and hit five three-pointers to lead a comeback.

Both teams struggled from the floor only hitting 30% a piece.  It was the Haymakers ability to hit from three-point range that was the difference in the game.

Owen Geiken was the leading scorer for the Swedes with 14 points, A.J. Whiting added 10 points. Gothernburg falls to 4-8 on the season.
