Iowa State women blown at home by Baylor

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State fell to No. 6 Baylor 89-49 Wednesday night at the Ferrell Center. The loss sets the Cyclones back to 7-7 overall on the year, 1-2 in Big 12 play. The Lady Bears improves to 13-1 on the year and maintain their lead atop the Big 12 at 3-0.

Baylor scored 16 seconds into the game and never looked back. The Cyclones struggled holding onto the ball, committing 20 turnovers, while shooting just 28.6 percent from the field on the night. ISU was led by 15 points from Bridget Carleton, while Emily Durr contributed 10 points and tied a career-high with three steals.

How It Happened
Baylor racked up the first 10 points of the contest, with ISU taking 4:52 to get on the board before Emily Durr hit a pair at the line. The Lady Bears then added a 24-0 run across the end of the first and start of the second quarters to build its advantage up to 43-6. Kristin Scott finally ended the funk with four-straight points.

While the Cyclone offense was able to improve its production in the second half. However, Baylor responded in kind, opening up its lead to as many as 47 points during the fourth quarter.

Players of Note
For the 10th time in 14 games, Bridget Carleton led the Cyclone scoring effort. The junior finished with 15 points along with five rebounds.

Emily Durr was aggressive and continued to get to the line for the Cyclones. Six of Durr’s 10 points came from the charity stripe. She also had four rebounds and tied a career-high with three steals.
