SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Iowa State senior guard Bridget Carleton was named to the 2018-19 Cheryl Miller Award Watch List for the second-straight season. The Cheryl Miller award honors the nation’s top small forward. Carleton was named a top-10 finalist in 2017-18
Carleton led Iowa State in 2017-18 with 19.2 points per game, ranking third all-time in the ISU single-season record book. Her 594 points on the year ranked fourth behind Angie Welle’s 2001 campaign. Carleton also set a single-season record in field goal attempts with 520.
In addition to her 19.2 points per game, she averaged 6.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals. Carleton also garnered AP All-America honorable mention honors along with her second-straight stint as a unanimous First-Team All-Big 12 selection.
The Selection Committee for the Cheryl Miller Award is composed of top women’s college basketball personnel including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers. By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2019 Cheryl Miller Award will be narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Ms. Miller and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. Fans will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalist at www.hoophallawards.com.
