UNK head men’s basketball coach Kevin Lofton received some good news this week. Kearney senior Kanon Koster has chosen to stay in Kearney to play his college basketball at UNK. After an official visit to McNeese State last weekend, Koster announced his commitment to play basketball at UNK last night on Twitter. Koster is just the seventh player in the last 20 years to be selected first team All-Nebraska in both football and basketball. The 6-4 shooting guard averaged 22 points this season and set school records with over 1,500 points in his career. He had received recruiting interest from a handful of Mid Majors but in the end decided to stay close to home. He will have a chance to play right away for the Lopers who had four seniors on last year’s team.
