It took several weeks but UNK has a new football coach. Former Central Missouri assistant Josh Lamberson was introduced at a press conference today. After competing against UNK the last couple of years Lamberson said “The cupboard is not bare at UNK, their are good players on campus. This will not be a 5 or 10 year process, we can get this thing turned around quickly.” Lamberson also said, recruiting Nebraska kids will be the key “We are going to get those Nebraska kids, we are going to dive into the high schools in Omaha and Lincoln and dive into the high schools in Central and Western Nebraska. We want to make UNK a destination location for those type of kids again.”
Lamberson was given a three year deal as he looks turn around a program that has won just 9 games since joining the MIAA three years ago. UNK received over 125 applications for this job and did several interviews before deciding on Lamberson. This is his first head coaching position.
