LCCC tops WNCC men’s and women’s soccer
Cougars start three day road stretch with win.

The Laramie County Community College men’s and women’s soccer teams pitched shutouts against Western Nebraska Community College Wednesday evening at Cheyenne East football stadium in Region IX contests.

The Cougar men and LCCC, who received votes in the national poll this week, hooked up in a defensive battle before earning the 1-0 win.

Both Cougar teams will look to get back on the winning track when they travel to face Western Wyoming Community College on Friday in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Both games are Region IX contests.

The No. 6 LCCC women’s soccer team ran to a 4-0 halftime lead and went on to post the 6-0 win.

The men’s match was a tight contest. The Golden Eagles netted the only goal they needed early in the first half when Rafael Munoz scored in the fourth minute on a penalty kick. Other than the penalty kick, neither team put another goal into the net the rest of the game.

Both teams had some good shots on goal. LCCC, however, held the shot edge taking 14 shots compared to six for the Cougars. The Golden Eagles also had eight corner kicks compared to one for the Cougars.

The No. 6 LCCC women and WNCC played the first part of the first half even. Then, the Golden Eagles put in a slurry of goals in an 18-minute span to grab a 4-0 lead at intermission. LCCC goal scoring started with the first win at the 20th minute followed by goals at the 23rd minutes, 35th minute, and the 38th minutes.

LCCC finished the game with two second half goals.

The Golden Eagles had 36 shots in the game compared to just one for WNCC. LCCC also had five corner kicks.

WNCC goalkeeper Allison Parker had 10 saves in net.
