Lexington picked up a huge win on Tuesday as they downed Kearney in boys soccer action 2-0 in the cold and wind. Using the wind in the second half Lexington scored two goals in the span of two minutes to pick up the victory. Scoring for Lexington were Junior Casillas at the 64th minute and Lester Perez in the 66th minute. Gustavo Castro stopped five shots to pick up the win in goal for the Minutemen. Lexington improves to 5-2 on the season, Kearney was shutout for the first time this season and is now 5-1.
In the girls game, Kearney scored a couple of goals in the second half to hold off Lexington 3-1. Kathy Flores scored the lone goal for Lexington in the second half. Montse Mazno had 12 saves for Lexington. Ashley Ringlein scored twice for Kearney and Kari Struebing also scored for the Bearcats. The two teams are scheduled to play again at the GNAC tournament on Friday.
