Lions RB Ameer Abdullah out 8-plus weeks with foot injury

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) _ The Detroit Lions have put running back Ameer Abdullah on the reserve-injured list with a foot injury, keeping him out of the lineup for at least eight weeks.

Detroit made the move before Wednesday’s practice.

Abdullah hurt his left foot on a 24-yard run in the second quarter of a loss Sunday to the Tennessee Titans and didn’t return to play.

The Lions signed wide receiver Aaron Dobson to take Abdullah’s roster spot. The New England Patriots, with current Detroit general manager Bob Quinn, drafted Dobson in the second round three years ago. He had 53 catches for 698 yards and four touchdowns from 2013 to 2015 with the Patriots.
