(Listen) Scottsbluff vs. Sidney tonight for B-8 title, rest of schedule

The Scottsbluff and Sidney girls basketball teams will meet for the second time this season tonight. The winner will hoist the B-8 subdistrict championship trophy.

Scottsbluff arrived in tonight’s title game by putting up a dominant second half performance on Monday night against Gering. Gering led that game at halftime 25-23 but Scottsbluff came out of the locker room locked in on both ends of the court; they outscored Gering 20-3 in the third quarter and overall in the half it was 33-10.

Yara Garcia led Scottsbluff with 25 points and in the process set a new single season scoring record with a now robust 354 points scored this season. Garcia broke a 26 year old record that was previously held by Jennifer Kamtz.

Head Coach David Bollish said they made some key halftime adjustments to come out and get the win.

Scottsbluff’s other double digit scorer in the win was Aubry Krentz with 10 points.

We had both games last night for you here at KNEB.

In the early game it was Sidney with a workman-like effort as they knocked off Alliance 54-39. Nicole Birner led Sidney with 15 points while sharpshooter Meaghan Ross finished with 11 points.

Sidney and Scottsbluff played just once during the regular season with the Lady Raiders winning big at home two weekends ago by the final of 62-37.

Both teams will play again Saturday in a district final but for tonight it’s the B-8 Subdistrict championship on the line and we’ll have coverage with Jeff Kelley starting at 5:45 on KNEB.tv, KNEB AM 960/100.3 FM, and streaming online here at kneb.com. Opening tip is slated for 6 p.m.
