Logan View and Tekamah-Herman are set to meet in High School Football action Friday evening on 107.9 the Bull. Tekamah-Herman Head Coach Graig McElmuray says his team will look to get back to doing what worked in the season opening win.
“We changed some stuff up because we faced some spread teams. And this next week we’re going to get back to what we do well. And how we do things in that first game. And we’re really going to get back after it. And be the team that we want to be instead of trying to let people dictate to us what we need to do. We’re going to go out and play defense and dictate to them what they need to do on offense.”
Logan View Head Coach Dustin Sealey says his squad has to slow down Tigers’ quarterback Cody Hopkins.
“The thing that pops in my mind is their quarterback. He’s a good player, he likes to run the option. And really that’s our goal on defense is to stop him, stop the option game, their inside run game.”
The Raiders are 1-3 on the season following a 42-13 loss at Stanton last week. Sealey says turnovers really hurt his team against the Mustangs.
“We did what good teams don’t do, and that’s turn the ball over. We had a bad snap on a punt and then we fumbled the ball on third down in the middle of the third quarter when we were on the 20-yard line going into score, and that would of made it 28-21, and so that fumble there kind of killed us.”
The Tigers also come in at 1-3. McElmuray feels their district is up for grabs.
“We have 5 games here at the end of the season, and right now our district is wide open. If you’re going to take a look, Oakland-Craig is out the drivers’ seat right now at 3-1 I do believe. And everybody else is down at 1-3 or 0-4 or something like that.”
The Raiders won last year’s contest 60-6.
Kickoff between the Tigers and Raiders is set for 6:30 p.m. at Logan View with pregame at 6:10 on the Bull.
