Jacob Regan led Fort Calhoun with 8 points while Messiah Tiller recorded 7.
LVSS Head Coach Sean Forbes says his team came storming out of the gates. “Yeah we came out with a lot of fire in that 1st quarter, 31-4. So we were pretty excited. We knew we had to play with a higher effort level in the 1st quarter. It’s kind of been our achilles heel the last couple weeks. So we were real focused on that 1st quarter.”
Forbes adds his team let off the pressure after building the big lead. “We were pressing. When we get out and play defense and scramble around on our press it really makes us pretty good. We backed it off once we got that lead so whenever you back off like that it takes some of the aggression away from them, but I’m really proud of that 1st quarter and how well we came out, and just answered the call.”
The Raiders up their record to 20-4 on the season while the Pioneers finish the year 7-16.
In the West Point-Beemer/Arlington Game, the Eagles built a 29-10 lead and held off a 4th quarter rally attempt by the Cadets.
Arlington jumped out to a 10-3 lead at the end of one and both teams scored 5 points in the 2nd quarter to make the score 15-8 at halftime in favor of the Eagles.
Arlington outscored West Point-Beemer 14-2 in the 3rd quarter to build their 29-10 lead.
The Cadets outscored the Eagles 32-20 in the 4th quarter.
Jackson Borgmann led Arlington with a game-high 24 points while Zach O’Flaherty scored 7.
Blake Anderson led West Point-Beemer with 18 points while Hunter Pilakowski notched 8.
Arlington improves to 8-17 on the season, and will play Logan View/Scribner-Snyder at 7:00 p.m. Thursday night in the Sub-District Final.
The Cadets end the year at 15-10.
