YORK – In the season home opener York scored less than five minutes into the contest as Matheus Oliveira (SR/Resende, Brazil) found Jorge Keller (FR/Montenegro, BR) with his free kick that slotted Doane’s goalkeeper for the quick 1-0 lead. York continued to press on and battle to out possess the Tigers but couldn’t find the back of the net the rest of the first half as the scored stayed 1-0 at the break.

In the 63rd minute Alan Gomes (SO/Fortaleza, Brazil) delivered a nice pass through to Jorge Alancar that reached the back of the net for an insurance goal. Doane felt the pressure and picked up their intensity knowing there wasn’t much time remaining to get back in the game. The Tigers were able to capitalize on some miscommunication the the Panthers’ defense that cut the lead in half in the 80th minute.

Both teams intensity picked up but it was the Panthers who were successful in finding the net in the 85th minute as Arturo Gutierrez III(FR/Hacienda Heights) scored off of a pass from Alancar.

York out shot the Tigers 15-6 as they took the game by a score of 3-1. All three goal scorers for York were wearing the Panther uniform for the first time. Bryce Kinsey (SR/Wichita, Kan) picked up three saves in the win.

York will host Briar Cliff Saturday afternoon with a scheduled kick off for 3:30 p.m.
