FREMONT, Neb. – No. 1 Midland University made short work of Mount Marty College on Friday night at the Wikert Event Center, sweeping the Lancers in straight sets. KC Heimann led all players with 13 kills in the Warriors’ 12th sweep of the season.
“We kept our errors to a minimum and I was really happy with how efficiently we played,” said head coach Paul Giesselmann. “We got contributions up and down our roster with a lot of girls getting to play on our home court here tonight.”
Midland never trailed at any point in the match and recorded set scores of 25-13, 25-15, 25-9.
The Warriors attacking percentage went up each game, culminating with a .469 clip in the third set. On the other side of the net, the Lancers hitting percentage declined in each game. Midland held Mount Marty to a -.031 percentage on the night.
MU stymied the Lancer attackers with four blocks in the second set and totaled seven in the match.
Heimann floored six of her kills on the final game. Priscilla O’Dowd downed eight, falling short of double digits in the kill category for the first time this season. Amber Pribyl added five kills and three block assists.
Midland improves to 20-1 (10-1 GPAC) while Mount Marty falls to 6-17 (0-11 GPAC).
The Lady Warriors return to action next Saturday at No. 11 Dordt College. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Sioux Center, Iowa.
