BELLEVUE, Neb. – Midland University struggled from the floor with a poor shooting outing but still managed a 71-39 win over Nebraska Christian College to close out the BU-NCC Classic on Saturday. The Lady Warriors improved to 3-0 on the season despite shooting just 32% from the field. The Sentinels fall to 0-5 with the loss.

Midland led by nine points the half, 33-24, before blitzing their opponents over the final 20 minutes of play. The Warriors forced 30 turnovers by the Sentinels and converted those opportunities into 38 points on the night.

Makenna Sullivan led the way with 12 points and three of the team’s 21 steals. Madison Severson and Maddie Egr both reached double figures as well with 11 points apiece. In total, 14 Warriors saw at least two minutes of action and 10 different players scored.

“It wasn’t always pretty, especially offensively, but we were solid in other areas that get you wins,” head coach Shawn Gilbert said after the game. “Defensively we were good, particularly in the second half. We forced turnovers, rebounded well, and both led to easy scores. I am really pleased with the level we competed at this week. We had three tough opponents in four days and got after it each game.”

After defeating Division I No. 11-ranked Central Methodist, (RV) Bellevue, and Nebraska Christian, the Warriors’ schedule actually get more difficult this upcoming week. They’ll host a pair of GPAC foes in No. 1-ranked Concordia on Tuesday and No. 2-ranked Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday. Tuesday’s game is set to tipoff at 6:00 p.m. inside the Wikert Event Center in Fremont, Nebraska. Saturday’s contest will begin at 2:00 p.m.
