Hastings-The top seeded Hastings Tigers advanced past Lexington on Monday night 37-28 in the first round of the Girls B-7 Subdistrict Basketball tournament. The Tigers led from start to finish after racing out to a 9-2 first quarter lead. Despite their offensive issues, Lexington managed to hang around as they held Hastings without a field goal in the second quarter and trailed 18-8 at half. In the second half, Lexington could never get closer than six points. Lexington was led by Maddi Sutton who scored nine points, Courtney Hanson had eight, while Blake Edeal chipped in with seven. Julia Reimer and Abby Dewitt led Hastings with ten points a piece. Lexington ends the year at 3-20 while Hastings is 14-7 and will play McCook tonight at 7pm for the subdistrict title. McCook advanced past Holdrege on Monday night, 49-36.
