Morningside Football ranked 2nd in Coaches Poll

(Sioux City, Iowa)- The Morningside football team has jumped to #2 in the nation in this weeks latest Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Mustangs come in at second behind the defending National Champs, the Cougars of Saint Francis (Ind.). Other GPAC schools that made the top 25 include Northwestern College and Midland University. Northwestern is ranked fifth, while Midland sneaks in at number 24.

The Mustangs are 2-0 on the season after wins against William Penn University and Truman State University. Morningside started the season with a 49-21 victory on Aug. 25 against William Penn at Elwood Olsen Stadium. The Mustangs then traveled to Kirksville, Mo. on Sept. 8 to face Truman State. Morningside prevailed by a score of 35-17.

The Mustangs will open up GPAC conference play on Sept. 15 when they travel to Mitchell, S.D. to take on Dakota Wesleyan. Morningside is looking for their 8th consecutive GPAC title.
