FREMONT, NE – The Northeast Community College baseball team shut out Midland University JV here Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks defeated the Warriors 14-0.

Six Northeast pitchers combined for the shutout. Justin Frye earned the win.

Drew Smith went 2-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Brennen Bales was 3-4 with two doubles and three RBIs; Tanner Hunt, 2-4 with a home run and four RBIs; Kaden Hendrix, 1-2 with a home run; David Richardson, 1-1 with a home run.

Northeast (11-20-1) was originally set to face Ellsworth Community College on Saturday and Sunday in Norfolk. However, due to impending weather, the first doubleheader will now be played on Thursday at Memorial Field in Norfolk at 1 p.m. The second day of the series will be played on Saturday at Wayne State College in Wayne at 1 p.m.
