OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha volleyball team bounced back after Friday’s loss and secured a four-set win over North Dakota State inside Baxter Arena Sunday afternoon.

Omaha completes the season sweep over NDSU and leads the series 45-42.
The Mavericks recorded more kills (62-35) and assists (55-35) while the Bison had more aces (12-1), blocks (12-9) and digs (84-82).
Inside Set 1
Midway through the set, Omaha fell into a five-point hole after the Bison put together a 7-0 run. The Mavericks could never close the gap as North Dakota State led by as many as six (21-15). The Bison cruised to a 25-19 off eight of the team’s 12 total service aces coming in the first set.

Inside Set 2
Omaha regrouped and battled back from an early 7-4 deficit to lead 9-8 off a 4-0 spurt with kills from Sade and Bergsten. A 5-0 Maverick run sparked by three straight kills from Sade put the Mavericks ahead 14-10. Omaha led by as many as five (17-12), but the Bison came back and cut it to three. Omaha was able to maintain the lead throughout the end of the set and clinched a 2-1 lead in the match off an NDSU blocking error.

Inside Set 3
A close third set featured eight lead changes. Down 11-8, Omaha battled back and strung together a 5-1 spurt off kills by Sade and Limback to lead 13-12. With a back-and-forth contest and the scored tied at 18-all late in the set, Omaha jumped out to a 24-20 lead off a pair of NDSU attack errors with the set point within its grasp. NDSU, however, scored four straight and tied it at 24-all with a service ace to cap the run. The Mavericks, however, did not let that waiver them and gutted out a 27-25 set victory off kills by Limback and Leonard.

Inside Set 4
A 7-1 Omaha run off five straight NDSU attack errors helped Omaha find its momentum after coming out victorious in the previous set. The Bison, however, did not lay down and eventually tied the match at 8-8 off five straight points. Omaha once again found its groove and pulled together a 5-1 run to lead by six (17-11) after a kill by Sade forced an NDSU timeout. Once again, NDSU mounted another comeback and pulled to within 21-20. With the momentum on the Bison’s side, Omaha kept its composure and mounted four straight kills to close out the match.

The Mavericks look ahead to a pair of road matches this weekend. Omaha travels to North Dakota on Friday, Oct. 26, and follows up with a Sunday, Oct. 28 matchup at Denver.
