MULLEN – Overton made the trip to face the #1 seeded Mullin Broncos and it was a Bronco victory over the Eagles 52-36. Mullen got the game started with a five-yard run from Lane Edis making it 8-0. Edis scored again this time from 30 yards out to make it 14-0  in the first. Later in the quarter, Ryan Lauby scored for Overton making it 14-8 at the 6:00 mark in the first quarter. The two teams traded scores for the remainder of the scores, and Mullen led 30-14 at the end of one.

In the second quarter, Overton got within one score on a three-yard touchdown run from Braden Kizer and the score was 30-22 in favor of Mullen at the 2:54 mark in the second. Mullen Answered right before halftime on a three-yard touchdown run from Edis.

In the third quarter, Mullen started the half with a 27-yard touchdown from Brady Gracey to Zac Sweet to make the lead 46-22. Overton scored on an eight-yard touchdown from Lauby and entering the final quarter Mullen led 46-30.

In the final quarter,  Mullen scored on another Edis touchdown this time the run was from six yards out. Lauby punched it in one more time for the Eagles but they couldn’t get any closer as the final score read 52-36.

Mullen was led by 242 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Ryan Lauby had over 100 yards rushing and three touchdowns for Overton.

Mullen is now 11-0 and will face Lawerence-Nelson in the semifinals of the class D-2 playoffs. Overton finishes the year at 9-2.
