YORK – The York College men’s golf team bested Central Community College for the second time in the fall season, this time defending their home course at the York Country Club. The dual was initially scheduled as a match play event, but Central was two players short  for a full slate of matches and the teams settled on a compromise using the Stableford scoring system. Stableford scoring awards points for strokes posted on each hole and takes the five highest point totals for a team score.

York College outscored Central 148-109 and was led by Brady McKinlay(FR/Lacombe, Alberta, Canada) (33 points), Trae Martinez (SO/Kingwood, Texas) (32 points), Graham Marks (SO/Pflugerville, Texas) (29 points), Andrez Dayap(FR/Subang Jaya, Malaysia) (28 points), and Alangkarn Thongprakob (FR/Kohjan, Thailand) (26 points).

The Panthers were once again lead my McKinlay (73), followed by Martinez (74), Marks (77), Dayap (78), and Thongprakob (80). York’s scoring was rounded out by Zane Pfau (SR/Brush, Colo)’s 24 points (82), William Bowman (SO/Leander, Texas)’s 20 points (86), and Charles Bowman (SO/Leander, Texas)’s 17 points (90).

“I like the fact that even though we were the better team the guys were not completely satisfied with the result. We are tired from playing four rounds in six days but it was good to get back on the course and move on to the next event after our third place team finish at the fall regional,” stated head coach Matt Fike.
