YORK – Billy Damon (SR/Reno, Nev) threw 145 pitches as he picked up the complete game win to secure the series against Ottawa. Jake Sola (SO/Lincoln, Calif) helped offensively as he crushed a three-run home run over the left field fence for a 6-3 lead.
After both teams scored two runs in the first inning the Braves led 3-2 going into the fifth inning. York’s bats came alive as Casey Wagnon (JR/Fresno, Calif) led off with a single. A sac bunt by DB Vidal (JR/Livermore, Calif), followed by Travis Turner (JR/Selah, Wash)’s single put runners at the corner with one out. Isaiah Bond (SR/Union City, Calif) hit a soft dribbler to short that scored Wagnon from third and Vidal on first. A wild pitch advanced runners to second and third with Sola at the plate. The next pitch he saw he belted deep down the left field line giving the Panthers the insurance runs.
Damon allowed just two hits over the final four innings of play as the Panthers won 6-4.
York will travel to Sterling, Kansas this weekend for a three-game series with Sterling College.
