Pioneers to hold first on-field workout

Pioneers to hold first on-field workout

Baseball season arrives in a big way this week for the Western Nebraska Pioneers and the Expedition League.

The Pioneers will play their season opening series on the road at Casper this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, before returning home for their home opener next Tuesday night against Spearfish.

This Wednesday everyone is invited out to the Oregon Trail Park Stadium to meet the team, tour the facilities and, if interested, take a shot singing the national anthem and get on the summer singing schedule.

Wednesday’s event will run from 5-7 p.m.

Then Thursday another big event for the public to get out and enjoy as the team will hold their first official workout.

Here’s the official details from the Pioneers:

WHAT: The Western Nebraska Pioneers will prepare for the 2018 season with the team’s first official practice session.

WHO: Pioneers owners Chuck & Mayra Heeman, Pioneers staff, coaches and players. All personnel who are in town at that point will be available to the media.

WHY: Preparation for the 2018 playing season.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Community, baseball fans, general public is invited.

WHEN: Thursday, May 24, 2018, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

WHERE: Oregon Trail Park Stadium, 800 13th St., Gering, NE 69341
