Scottsbluff/Gering volleyball preview, HS sports schedule

It’s a busy Tuesday night of prep athletics around the region and we’ll be busy here at KNEB.

It’s rivalry time on the volleyball hardwood as Scottsbluff entertains Gering at Scottsbluff High School. It’s the first match of the season for the Lady Bearcats at home with the gym finally ready to go after a summers worth of construction and cleanup.

First year Head Coach Alexia Lanka excited to get a taste of the crosstown matchup.

Scottsbluff comes in at 4-4 with a win already under their belts against Gering at the Campbell County invite up in Gillette, Wyoming.

Gering enters with a mark of 2-5 here in the early going and they’re coming off a loss to Chadron for Head Coach Dave Lashley.

KNEB will have multiple broadcasts tonight from SHS. For radio tune into KNEB AM 960 or for coverage starting at 6:15. We’ll also have (Allo channel 15) coverage starting at 6:20. First serve tonight between the rivals expected at 6:30.

Elsewhere in volleyball action tonight there is a triangular at Chadron with Sidney and Bridgeport. Another triangular will take place at Hemingford as Kimball and Gordon-Rushville play there. In single matches it’s Minatare at Sioux County, Bayard hosting Mitchell, Leyton on the road at Paxton, while Potter-Dix visits Burns.

Also tonight here at KNEB we’ll have doubleheader softball coverage as Gering entertains Chase County. These two teams played over the weekend here in the Scottsbluff Invitational with the Lady Bulldogs winning 19-1.

Gering earned the team title at the Scottsbluff Invite via the tiebreaker system, finishing the weekend at 3-2.

The Scottsbluff softball team is on the road at Holyoke, Colorado and Chadron is at home to play Alliance.

Also today there was girls golf at Monument Shadows Golf Course with the Gering Invite. Teams competing there were Gering, Scottsbluff, Sidney, Chadron, Alliance, Bayard, Bridgeport, Kimball, and Mitchell.
