Seacats post season best results at GNAC meet

The Scottsbluff/Gering Seacats swim and dive team racked up their best performance of the season over the weekend at the GNAC meet in Hastings.

It was a great tune up for the State meet which will be held in Lincoln on February 22nd and 23rd.

Head coach John Galindo was pleased with how things turned out at GNAC, “This was by far the best meet the team has swum this year. They were all best times, and not just by tenths but by seconds which is amazing!”

Some of the highlights were from Breckden Holten and Erin Hayhurst. In the 500 freestyle Holten took 45 seconds off a previous best while Hayhurst took off 15 seconds.

Junior Alanna Becker picked up the teams only two first place finishes at the meet, touching first in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley.

Overall, Coach Galindo pleased with where things are at for the team with the State meet on the horizon, “We look forward to going to State next week. There will be about 15 kids swimming; three relays and a possibility of 7 individual events.”
