Lincoln, Neb. – The Tri-City Storm opened the 2016-17 regular season with a 3-1 win against the Lincoln Stars Friday at the Ice Box. Monte Graham and Joe Cipollone scored for Tri-City in a 59-second span early in the second, putting the Storm up by three.
Linus Weissbach also tallied for Tri-City. Eight Tri-City players had points.
The early lead allowed the Storm to find its groove. Dayton Rasmussen made 20 stops through the first two periods. The returning goalie added nine third-period stops to finish with 26 saves. Cayden Primeau took the loss with 28 stops.
The Storm has won four straight season openers, a streak that started September 28, 2013 against Lincoln. The Storm’s weekend continues at Sioux Falls today, Saturday, September 24. The Storm faces the Sioux Fall Stampede. Puck Drop is at 7:05 p.m.
After the first two regular season games, the Storm prepares for its home opener, Championship Night, on Friday, September 30 at 7:05 p.m vs. Sioux City.
